Cookies and site storage
This website sets no cookies for readers and loads nothing from another company. It stores one thing, only after you act, so a Discord invite you closed stays closed.

1. The short version
This website sets no cookies for readers, runs no advertising and no third-party analytics, and loads nothing from another company.
It stores exactly one thing on your device, and only after you do something. When you close the small Laced Discord box, or follow a link to the Laced Discord, your browser keeps a note of the date the box may appear again. That note is the whole list.
Most cookie pages are written to justify a banner. This one exists so you can check a claim rather than take it on trust, and so that the day something does change, the change is visible.
2. The one thing we store
The Laced Discord box is a small invite that some pages show in a corner, or above the “Get the app” bar on a phone. It appears at most once per visit, on the page you arrived on, after you have been reading for a while.
- Where: your browser’s local storage, for lacedentries.com.
- Name:
laced:discord-card. - What it holds: one date, the day the box may appear again. Nothing else.
- When it is written: when you close the box, which keeps it away for 30 days, or when you follow a link to the Laced Discord from a page that shows the box, which keeps it away for a year.
- Who reads it: only the page in your own browser, to decide whether to show the box. It is never sent to us or to anyone else.
Without the note, the box would come back on your next visit. That is the only thing the note changes.
3. Why there is still no banner
The law that governs cookies in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area is about storing information on your device or reading information already there. It applies to more than cookies, which is why a site can be “cookieless” and still need consent.
The law makes an exception for storage that is strictly necessary to give you something you asked for. The note above records a choice you made about this site’s own interface, by closing the box or by joining, and it does nothing else: it identifies nobody, it is not shared, and it never leaves your browser. That is the kind of storage the exception is written for, which is why there is still no banner. A banner that offers no real choice would be a worse practice than no banner at all.
4. How to say no
Block site data for lacedentries.com in your browser’s settings. The Discord box then never appears, nothing is stored, and every other part of the site works exactly as before.
You can also clear this site’s data at any time, which deletes the note. The box may then appear again on a later visit.
5. What we do not load
Every file this site needs comes from lacedentries.com. Specifically, there is none of the following anywhere on the site.
- No third-party analytics. No Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, no heatmaps, no session recording. Our own measurement is described in section 7.
- No advertising or conversion tags, and no remarketing.
- No embedded video or audio players.
- No live chat widget, no support bubble, no social share buttons and no embedded posts. The Discord box is part of this site: it loads nothing from Discord, and nothing reaches Discord unless you follow its link.
- No web fonts fetched from a font host. The typefaces are downloaded when the site is built and served from this domain, so loading a page here does not tell anyone else that you did.
- No content delivery network for third-party libraries, because there are no third-party libraries.
The App Store and Google Play badges are images stored on this site. They are links. Following one takes you to Apple or to Google, and following a Discord link takes you to Discord. From that point their privacy practices apply rather than ours.
6. What your browser still does
Two things happen that are not us and are not something we can switch off.
Your browser caches files so the site loads faster the second time. That cache is your browser’s, it lives on your device, and it is cleared from your browser settings like any other site’s.
Your network connection reaches our content delivery network, which necessarily sees your IP address in order to send you a page at all. That is how the web works rather than a choice we made. What we do with those delivery records is covered in the privacy policy, which also flags that the retention period for them still has to be confirmed.
7. Our own measurement
Pages send two kinds of figure to our own server, at lacedentries.com: how fast the page loaded and responded to you, and which of its main links or buttons was used, for example “the footer’s Discord button, on a release page”.
Each report carries the page’s address, the kind of browser engine (Chromium, WebKit or Gecko), which part of the page a slow moment came from and, for a link, the kind of place it leads. If you arrived through one of our own tagged links, it also carries that link’s campaign label. It carries no identifier, stores nothing on your device, and does not connect one page you read to another.
8. What else would change this page
The only cookies on lacedentries.com belong to the editor our team writes in. They are set only when a member of the team signs in to it, and a reader never receives one.
A test of two versions of the homepage is built and switched off. While it is off, nothing about it touches your device. If it is ever switched on, this page gets the detail, a date and a way to object first, and the same goes for anything else that would store or read something on your device.
9. How to check us
Open your browser’s developer tools on any page of this site. In Chrome or Edge, look under Application, then Storage. In Safari, look under Storage. In Firefox, look under Storage. Cookies, session storage and IndexedDB should all be empty for lacedentries.com, and local storage should hold nothing, or the one note described in section 2.
Then open the Network tab and reload. Every request should be to lacedentries.com. If you find one that is not, that is a bug on our side and we would like to hear about it at hello@lacedentries.com.
10. The Laced app is a different thing
This page is about the website only. The app has accounts, holds data and talks to our servers, and none of that is described here. The privacy policy covers the app, including the parts of it we have not finished documenting yet.
11. Changes to this page
The date at the top is the date this page was last correct. If you want the underlying evidence rather than the summary, the site is a static build and the network tab is the receipt.
